Goudja Mahamat lives with his familyby Lake Chad. 50 years ago this was one of the largest inland lakes of Africaand it was also extraordinary well stocked with fish. Neither is the caseany more. Is it so, as claimed by some, that the reduced fish stocks of todaycan be explained by the lack of water? By joining Goudja and his fishing palsin their work out on the lake, and through encounters with the local fisheryadministration, the underlying causes of the fish scarcity are slowlyrevealed.
