Riding the Wind of Change
Saskia Heyden

30 minutes
15 years ago pictures of East and West Germans tearing down the Berlin wall travelled around the world. These images captured the sensational face of change.
What the TV crews were less likely to record was how the changes affected the less central, the off-camera regions.
Away from the dramatic events, how are the changes really experienced by local people? What are the consequences of the changes and the time before on everyday life today? This film gives a glimpse of a summer in a motorcycle garage for Simson and MZ in the East-German province. We come across the views of people who meet there and we experience how they are "riding the wind of change".
