A Room in the House

A film around rural houses in the interior of Algarve, South of Portugal, showing the relationship between the present and memories evoked in the houses intimacy. The past appears in all the testimonies of those with whom we spoke in a nostalgic and wistful way, as a time of harmony but also as a miserable time. Traditional architecture in the film does not refer so much to the building techniques, but rather to an intangible heritage. More than knowledge, techniques, tools, ways of doing and materials, we worked architecture from the "social imaginary". The film focus on the way homes were and are now experienced, and on their connections to farming, ritual and family.
